Frequently Asked Questions (Updated April 29th 2009):

Questions About The Books:

Q: How did you come up with the idea for Sweet Moon Dreams?
A: Sweet Moon Dreams first started out as a short story in 2002. I had always been a fan of supernatural fiction, especially with vampires and werewolves. It was only when my boyfriend read the short story and encouraged me that I saw the full potential of it.

Q: Why did you decide to write about werewolves?
A: I wanted to do something different with Sweet Moon Dreams. Tired of Hollywood and most other books portraying werewolves as bad guys, I wanted to make them sympathetic character. I wanted them to be the good guys. So I came up with what I thought was an exciting plot and went from there.

Q: What genre is the Moon Series?
A: Sweet Moon Dreams a Mainstream Paranormal. The other books are categorized as paranormal. They all have action, adventure, suspense, and some romance and horror--all with a supernatural twist.

Q: Where does it take place and when?
A: The Moon Series books are set in the Southern and Midwest United States, in a generic location. The towns have no names and I made it that way so it would appear it could have occurred at any place. It is set in a modern time period.

Q: Who does your cover art?
A: Anne Cain did the cover art for Sweet Moon Dreams, Blood Moon and Hunter's Moon, and she did a wonderful job capturing Jason and Rose, the main characters. Brenda Porter did the cover art for Dark Moon Magick. I love what she did with the wolves on that cover. Very pretty. The cover art for Changed was created by Missy Lyons. She also did an amazing job.

Q: Where can I buy the books?
A: The e-books from Samhain Publishing are sold from My Bookstore and More. The books that are available in print can be found there as well, or at most online bookstores. You can also inquire at your local bookstore. Books sold by Red Rose Publishing can be found on the publisher page, in the bookstore.

Q: What company is publishing the books?
A: Samhain Publishing, LTD has published the first three books of the series. The fourth book is with Red Rose Publishing.

Q: Why is Dark Moon Magick with a different publisher? Why not stick with Samhain?
A: Samhain Publishing passed on the fourth book of the series, and since I was not contracted with them for the full series, just on a book-by-book basis, I was free to send the book to another place. That's where Red Rose Publishing came in. They loved the book.

Q: How many books do you plan to write?
A: Currently, I plan to write a total of four books in what I am calling the Moon series. In order so far, Sweet Moon Dreams, Blood Moon and Hunter's Moon. Dark Moon Magick is coming soon. There is another book contracted called Changed which is related to a character introduced in Blood Moon, but is not directly related with the Moon Series.

Q: Why is the second book called Blood Moon?
A: It is the second act, which in many plays, tends to be darker. It is the story of revenge. The blood moon is said to be an ill omen in some superstitions. It may sometimes mean that blood has been spilled, or will be spilled. It seemed appropriate for a vengeance piece. 'Blood Moon' also happens to be another name for the full moon for the month of October, the month in which the first two books take place.

Q: I've noticed that your name is Rose and your heroine in the Moon Series is named Rose. Did you base this character off yourself?
A: When I first began writing Sweet Moon Dreams, the characters were loosely based on myself and my fiance. I even gave the characters our first names. Over time, as the story developed, the characters also developed. They became completely different than the people they were based from, but the names stuck. I just couldn't bring myself to change them. So yes, Rose was originally based on myself. We still hold some similiarities--like she's an author as I am, and her attitude about things closely follow my own--but Rose is a character all her own.

General Questions:

Q: How Long Have You Been Writing?
A: I've been writing on and off my whole life. I realized I wanted to be a writer when I was 10 years old. I wrote little stories here and there, but never finished anything. English and writing were my favorite subjects in school. I stopped for a bit when I had to start working to support my family and go to college. I just didn't have the time. Just recently, in the past three years or so, I have really started focusing my energies and managing my time so I can write at least a bit each day.

Q: How do you find your inspiration?
A: Anywhere and everywhere. I like to observe people and watch how they act. Alot of times this will give me an idea for a character in a story and then I will make up something to explain why the character is the way he or she is. Sometimes I will take note of a certain building or place, and come up with ideas on what could happen there, or what might've happened there. I read alot, also and watch alot of movies. There are many ideas to be found, if you just know how to look.

Q: Can you help me get published?
A: The best advice I can give you on the matter is research. Go to your favorite search engine and look up publishing. Also, feel free to check out the links on this site. There are many great resources out there.

Q: Can I have a copy of your books for free?
A: Only if you are the winner of a contest in which the prize is a free copy of my book, or you work with the media and wish to use it for review. I cannot give everyone a free copy. Check the Contests page for information on current contests and prizes.

Q: What is an e-book?
A: An e-book is a book in an electronic format. It can be downloaded from an online source and then saved to be read on a computer or hand-held device.

Q: Have you ever been published before? Do you have any other books out?
A: No, the books of the Moon Series are my first books published.

Q: Do you write other genres?
A: While I do venture into other genres of writing, I am mainly sticking with the supernatural for the time being.

Q: Are your stories based on fact? Are they real?
A: My stories are fiction. They are the work of my imagination. They are not based on anything real.

Q: How long does it take you write a book?
A: It varies. It took me a few years to finish Sweet Moon Dreams, and only six months to finish Blood Moon. It was about five months for Hunter's Moon. Dark Moon Magick, Book Four was about five months as well.

Q: Why are you giving away money to animal shelters?
A: A long time ago, when I first started submitting my work to publishers and agents, I made a vow. If I were to get a contract, a percentage of what I make would go to my local animal shelter. I love animals and I'll do anything to help them. So, that's why 10% of my royalties go to the Marion-Grant County Humane Society in Marion, Indiana. I want to help out and it's definitely a worthy cause.

Q: Do you write under a pen name? Why?
A: Yes, I write under a pen name. When I first began writing online, I didn't want to give out my real name to very many people. I wanted to be careful with the Internet, so I began using my real middle name, Rose Marie, combined with my favorite animal, the wolf. I called myself Rose Marie Wolf, and when I began searching for a publisher, I used that name because by then, it was my online alias. People already knew me by that moniker. It just kinda stuck. So, to sum up, Rose Marie is part of my real name, but my last name is not really Wolf. Besides, I thought Rose Marie Wolf would sound alot better attached to books than my real name.
